Fog

The fog comes on little cat feet. To me he is comparing the movement of the fog to the silent, spry font step of a cat, on animal who is able to creep toward its destination without warnng. Fog often arrives quickly, yet completely, as it covers a city or a harbor. Akin to a cat who dose as it pleases fog obeys no rules, often shrouding the surrounding like a blanket that does not allow any light. In this poem, the fog arrived above the city where it sits looking over the harbor, and city much as a cat does when it arrives at its destination. The next thing I notice it says that the fog is sitting on sileat houoches as it looks out over the harbor and city, and indeed , few creatures can sit as silently as the cat. Finally , Cat are known to be wandering creatvres , stopping for a time and then moving on from destination to destination. Again the fog is compared to the cat in that the fog hovers silently , but it never stay in one place too long . Fog either rolls on anther destination.

  1. i find this summary to be true. he makes valid points in saying that the fog is much like a cat because of how the fog rolls in silently much like how a cat can enter an leave places without anyone noticing. he also points out how the fog and a cat do as they feel like wandering in and out of places without care and this blog also points out how the fog is much like a cat by how they go where ever they feel like without care.

  2. This post states a well interpreted summary of the poem, The Fog. The Fog is compared to a cat. But a cat is more of the more silent, deadly predators. If one was to look at the cat family in the animal kingdom, lions, tigers, panthers, etc. are all listed. This poem makes me wonder if it is referring to the fog as a cat, which in the end compares it to death...? Death is silent, and it creeps through cities, towns, even families. And like Nick commented, the cat is an animal of wondering with no thought, as is death.

  3. Each post gave a different opinion on the true meaning behind the poets description of the fog. If I had to pick a side it would be Cobs. The death and fog together seem to go hand in hand as far as the thought of darkness. Death does seek out people everywhere.Cities, towns, and families feel the burden of death everyday and yet no human can run from it. The fog to me seems as that of frighting and one that takes you by surprise just as the fog does within the poem.

  4. I agree that the for is compared to the cat. I also agree with Cobb when he states it could be referring to death as it creeps around city to city and takes it victims sometimes quickly as fog can appear so fast or taking it's time just as fog can slowly roll into new places. Nick also brings up a point on how cats can end up somewhere atop a hill or on a building and just set there slowly taking in the sights looking to make it's next move. I'm torn between who I agree with more, but I think I'm on Cobb's side.
