Love song

this is an interesting yet weird short story about man an his quest for love or just looking for someone to be with for awhile. in the story prufrock talks about going to parties and cheap hotels and feeling unintellectual with everyone talking about Michelangelo. in this part of the story prufrock to me is describing his short coming and belittling himself, to me if he just tried to engage in the conversation he might find that he knew what they were talking about or at least made a friend to take home. also throughout the story prufrock complains about his outward appearance and about how people talk behind his back about his hair balding. to me this is just him worried about others think and not about what he thinks or what he can, as long as he was confident in himself he could have found the girl of his dreams or that one person to be with for at least a night.

  1. I feel that you are right in seeing that he was very shy in the idea that he hid within the image of himself. The deeper question is Prufrock maybe speaking on the behalf of all of us? To me he simply points out his own deepest desires that he some how keeps suppressed. Do we all not have that same problem in other ways as well as talking to women.

Most men or women at our ages work out, go shopping,or listen to a certain style of music just to fit just to fit in. It is human nature to hid our deepest wants behind our image. In this case he hides his want for true love. He even goes on to tell how easy it is to pay for what others feel is love for one night or two, but he feels there is more than that. He chooses to hid behind the idea that he can continue to carry on his way by buying love. I truly believe that he will not find this want until he first confronts that fear and obey the morals and values set forth by past dignitaries. Yes a well dress man will attract women but will attract the women he desires most?

  2. I think this poem really talks about love being deeper than just a couple of cheap hotels and one night stands. I, also, think that Prufrock is more into holding his image to what the society image is rather than creating his own and running with it. Too many men and women worry about how their body looks, what crowd they associate themselves with, and their clothes rather than just being them and letting the connection with friends come when it should. It is almost like Prufrock is trying to hand pick his friends, or associates, instead of being happy with his own group of friends that fit him best.
